Room to cool down, and someone to talk it through with.

A quiet directory of therapists who list anger among their specialties. Read their profiles, see how they work, and take your time choosing.

A pause before you choose

Online talk therapy can be a place to

notice what tends to set your anger off, talk about what sits underneath it, and practise responding in ways you feel better about afterwards. What you work on is up to you and the therapist you speak to.

It is not

a court-ordered or mandated anger-management course. It does not provide attendance certificates or completion letters for a court, employer or anyone else. It is not emergency care, and it cannot promise any particular result.

Anger is a normal feeling. Hurting, threatening or frightening another person is never acceptable. If anyone is at risk, contact emergency services first.

When it is someone else's anger

If another person's anger frightens you or puts you at risk, your safety comes first: contact emergency services or a domestic-abuse helpline. Therapy can also be a place to talk about how living or working with someone's anger affects you.

Therapists in three countries

Each profile shows the therapist's listed location and their licence or registration details, so you can check they fit where you live.

Questions people ask

Can I get a certificate for a court or an employer?

No. The therapists listed here offer online talk therapy, not a court-ordered or mandated anger-management course. If a court, employer or agency has asked you to complete a programme, ask them which providers they accept.

Do I need to have "an anger problem" to look here?

No. Some people want to understand why small things set them off, some want to argue less at home, and some are dealing with anger about something that happened to them. You can start wherever you are.

What if I am worried about hurting someone?

If anyone is at risk right now, contact emergency services. Therapy can help over time, but it is not a substitute for immediate help when someone's safety is in question.

Where does the information come from?

Profiles are based on information supplied by BetterHelp. Each one shows the therapist's credentials and their licence or registration details as listed, so you can check them yourself.
